
I started by blocking in the basic shapes of each figure over a wire frame and stand.

I refined the figures, focusing on their contrasting postures.

I created molds of the refined sculptures, and made duplicates.

I experimented, using different clays and waxes to create copies of the sculptures. On the copies I was able to carve finer details and finish off the sculpts.

I projected images over the finished sculptures, creating lots of reference material.

Images like these were very evocative.

I created sketches of some of the best reference material.

Finally, I created a painting from one of those images.
